What is the Business Register Database?
The Business Register Database is the official online database of the Federal Ministry of Justice (BMJ) and contains all companies registered in Austria. It enables online enquiries for all companies registered in Austria and contains authentic, legally binding information on their legally relevant data.

Enter the company name, Business Register Number (FN) or VAT Identification Number (UID) to receive the current extract instantly.
The Business Register serves to record and disclose all entries required under commercial law. An Extract from the Business Register includes, among other information:
- Registered office and business address
- Management and Authorised Signatories (Prokuristen)
- Company capital and shareholders
- Articles of association, transformations, mergers and demergers
The data in the Business Register Database is updated daily. New entries become effective at 00:00 on the day following the Commercial Court decision. The Republic of Austria, represented by the competent Commercial Court, is liable for the accuracy of the entries.
The Business Register Database is public and freely accessible to any person. It covers the following periods:
- From 1991: Sole Traders, partnerships under commercial law, Acquisition Companies
- From 1993: Limited Liability Companies (GmbH), Joint-Stock Companies (AG), Acquisition and Business Cooperatives, mutual insurance associations, savings banks and private foundations
