What is the Austrian Business Licence Information System GISA?
The Austrian Business Licence Information System (GISA) has been, since 30 March 2015, the central and nationwide uniform Business Licence Register of the Republic of Austria. It enables standardised data management and harmonised trade-law procedures, which can be carried out online throughout Austria.

GISA records, in principle, all commercially performed activities that are not prohibited by law and that fall under the scope of the Trade Regulation Act 1994 (Gewerbeordnung 1994), the Goods Transport Act 1995 (Güterbeförderungsgesetz 1995) or the Occasional Transport Act (Gelegenheitsverkehrsgesetz).
In contrast to registration in the Business Register, neither the economic size nor the corporate structure of the undertaking is relevant for registration in GISA. Registration in the central Business Licence Register has no constitutive effect. It serves solely to provide information and ensure traceability of commercial activities in Austria.
